BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Many of those involved in last Sunday’s bombings that targeted governmental institutions in Baghdad were arrested, Ali al-Allaq, the secretary general of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, said on Wednesday. “The arrests were carried out by Iraqi security forces,” al-Allaq told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said the process of tracking down others involved in the attacks is still underway. “The results of the investigation will be revealed within the coming few days,” al-Allaq said. He said those who have been arrested so far are Iraqis, but “neighboring countries provided big support to bombers to carry out the blasts.” Al-Allaq said that the United Nations (UN) representative in Iraq has no authority to investigate the blasts, but is currently collecting information that he will submit in this regard to the UN Security Council.
