(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Tuesday, a powerful explosion rocked Sultanahmet archaeological area in the center of Istanbul, while killed 10 people and wounded over 15 others.

Turkish police have closed the historic district, while the Turkish president said a Syrian national carried out the attack.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister said, “Most of the explosion casualties are foreigners,” pointing out that, “The suicide bomber was a Syrian born in 1988 who had been identified from body parts.”

Ambulances and large numbers of police arrived to the area that is located near the most famous Turkish monuments in Istanbul such as Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, according to the images broadcasted on Turkish television networks.
