Babel’s investment commission says ministries hinder investment

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: The investment commission in Babel province said that it is “really suffering” from laws and regulations governing ministerial performance. “Some ministries do not abide by the Investment Law…, which severely hinders investments,” the director general of the commission, Alaa Harba, told Iraqi News. The commission could not grant permits to investors due to obstacles by municipality departments, Harba noted. Meanwhile, a member of Babel’s provincial council and the investment commission, Amira Obeid al-Bakri, said, “The Investment Law is clear and obliges the departments that benefit from investment projects to offer all possible facilities to the investors, particularly in housing projects.” Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km southwest of Baghdad.
