Iraq to participate in Strategic Cooperation Council meeting

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of transportation will participate in the first ministerial meeting of the Iraqi-Turkish Strategic Cooperation Council, scheduled to take place in Istanbul from September 17-18, 2009. “Under the auspices of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the first ministerial meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council will take place in the Turkish city of Istanbul,” according to a ministry statement received by Iraqi News. Among the topics on the agenda of the meeting is a project to link a Basra-Mosul railway to the Turkish Gaziantep in an attempt to facilitate passenger travel and goods transportation between the two countries, the statement explained.
