ISX trades over 3.5b shares this week

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX) traded this week over more than 3.5 billion shares worth more 6 billion Iraqi dinars ($5 million) through 1277 transactions with non-Iraqi investors obtaining 17% of the total trading volume through 180 transactions over 535 million shares worth 1.39 billion Iraqi dinars. The week’s volume of trading is close to last week’s when traded shares hit 2.3 billion worth 6.2 billion Iraqi dinars. The industrial firms came in the lead this week as their shares topped the list of highest rates. The ISX witnessed the first e-trading session on April 19 over five registered companies, three banks and two hotels. The banks were the Ashur International Bank (AIB), Al-Mansour Bank and the Iraqi Credit Bank while the hotels were the Ashtar Hotel and Al-Mansour Hotel. On June 7, the Iraqi Middle East Investment Bank and the Warka Bank joined the electronic trading sessions. The ISX now holds three electronic sessions on a weekly basis: Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. AmR (P) 1
