Parliamentary polls to facilitate investments in Iraq- Japanese envoy

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Japanese ambassador to Iraq, Shoji Ogawa, on Saturday said that the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled to take place early next year, will help boost stability and encourage investments in Iraq. “The parliamentary polls will result in political and security stability and facilitate investment in Iraq,” Ogawa told reporters at the headquarters of the Japanese embassy in Baghdad. The Japanese official highlighted the keenness of his country’s businessmen to invest in Iraq. “Japan will continue its support for the political and democratic processes in Iraq,” he pointed out. Many Iraqi politicians and officials have expressed their desire to learn from Japan’s post-World War II experience of recovery, he explained. The Japanese Parliament will host several Iraqi lawmakers to benefit from their Japanese counterparts in this regard, Ogawa added. SS (P) 1
