IED wounds officer in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi army officer on Saturday was wounded when an explosive charge went off in southern Kirkuk, according to a local police source. “Today, an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted the vehicle of an army officer near al-Rabie Bridge, southern Kirkuk,” the source told Iraqi News. “The officer was wounded in the blast, which caused damage to the vehicle,” the source indicated, providing no further details. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
