Wassit Council blames Baathists for blasts

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Deputy Head of the Wassit Provincial Council held Baathists responsible for detonating two passenger buses on the Baghdad – Kut highway. The two explosions that took place yesterday (August 24) left 15 people dead and 21 others wounded according to the latest statistics. “The Baath Party, Yuniss al-Ahmed’s wing, started employing new methods in conducting its terrorist operations by the use of sticky bombs,” Mahdi Ali told Iraqi News on Tuesday. He demanded the central government to punish security checkpoint personnel in Baghdad, through which the two buses had passed through on their way from Baghdad to Kut city. “This is an obvious security malfunction in the capital,” Ali said. He noted that the Wassit Council will punish the checkpoints’ personnel in the province, which are responsible for security breach. Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad. MH (P) / SS 1
