Barazani, Change List meet to discuss new govt.

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: President of Iraq’s Kurdistan region Massoud al-Barazani on Wednesday met with representatives of the Change List to discuss the formation of the new regional government and the role of the opposition in the Parliament, according to an informed source. “Barazani received at his Arbil-based Salah al-Din summer resort the head of the Change List, Kuwistan Mohammed, and MPs Shaho Saeed and Jaafar Ali,” a spokesperson for Barazani, Fouad Hussein, told Iraqi News. The list’s representatives have submitted a memo, in which they urged Barazani to return those whom they said had been fired from their jobs because of their outspoken support for the list during the previous regional elections, which took place on July 25. The Change List has won 25 seats out of a total 111 in the Kurdish Parliament. The list had announced its withdrawal from participation in the new Kurdish government, saying it would stand as an opposition force in the Parliament. SS (P)/SR 1
