UAE says ready to treat Baghdad’s blast victims

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Iraq said his country is ready to receive and treat the wounded victims of the deadly blast on August 19 in Baghdad that targeted the buildings of the ministries of finance and foreign affairs. Ambassador Abdullah Ibrahim Abdullah al-Shohi, during a phone call he made to Iraqi Finance Minister Baqer Jabr al-Zubaydi on Sunday, expressed sadness over the Iraqi civilian victims of a blast that targeted the finance ministry on Aug. 19, according to a ministry release received by Iraqi News. The ambassador conveyed the condolences of the government and people of the UAE and expressed his country’s readiness to receive and treat the wounded victims of this blast in UAE hospitals. On Wednesday ( August 19, 2009 ) six bombing attacks in Baghdad left 82 people killed and 1203 others wounded. Meanwhile, the ministry, in its release, said Minister Zubaydi also received a message of condolences from U.S. ambassador in Iraq Christopher Hill. AmR (P)/SR 1
