Italy to consider any US request to use Sitjonala base against ISIS

(IraqiNews.com) BAGHDAD – Italian Foreign Minister Paulo Jantelaun announced on Tuesday that Italy would consider any US request asking them to allow to use Sitjonala air base in Sicily to strike ISIS in Libya.
In response to a question on whether Italy would allow the United States to use its air base in the air campaign, Jantelaun said, “If any application is submitted, we will study it.”
The Italian government added, “Italy has not received any requests so far. The government can approve the use of the base in eastern Sicily without the need to vote for it in the parliament.”
