Two mass graves found in Mosul, one in Fallujah
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Two mass graves were found west of Mosul, Nineveh and one in Fallujah, Anbar, by al-Hashd al-Shaabi forces on Tuesday as the forces continue to drive Islamic State militants out of several areas in Iraq.
The bodies contained in the Mosul graves, discovered in a village near Tal Afar, are believed to belong to people executed by the extremist group, the source told Alsumaria News.
“Al-Hashd al-Shaabi are working to find out to whom the corpses belonged in collaboration with concerned authorities,” said the source, who did not mention the number of bodies found.
In Fallujah, al-Hashd al-Shaabi said again they found a mass grave of 15 dead bodies including those of security personnel killed by the group over the past three years.
Almada Press quoted al-Hashd commander in Fallujah, Mahmoud Mardi al-Jamili, as saying that the grave was dicovered at al-Tharthar region (40 km north of Fallujah).
Mass graves have been discovered at several areas liberated from ISIS which had been infamous for executing violators of its fundamentalist religious directives as well as opponents in Iraq since it occupied large areas of the country in 2014 to establish an “Islamic Caliphate.”
ِ A United Nations spokesperson counted on Tuesday several cases this month when ISIS killed civilians who either tipped off security forces about the group or refused to cooperate with militants.
