Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) One child and two women were injured when fire caught at al-Khazer refugee camp in Mosul.

Sky News Arabia reported that the fire was caused by petroleum derivatives used by refugees inside the camp.

The United Nations had called upon donors to secure winter needs for nearly 1.2 million people, preparing for the worst scenario as more people escape battles at Mosul between Islamic State militants and Iraqi government forces seeking to recapture the city with major operations since mid October.

There are nearly 29000 people in al-Khazer camp, and the Migration and Displacement Ministry said recently that turmoil in Mosul forced more than 120.000 to flee.

The United Nations estimates that there are at least 3 million internally-displaced people in Iraq. Upon the launch of the security campaign to liberate the city of Mosul, the organization had said it was concerned over the fate of more than one million persons there.

Many at refugee camps are reportedly grappling with medicine and food shortages, just like others who are still stranded in the city.
