(IraqiNews.com) The self-proclaimed Islamic State launched on Monday an attack on the Kurdish Secol village (50 km south of Kobani), after penetrating the defenses of the Kurdish militia in the area.

An informed source from Kobani told Basnews, “The Islamic State’s militants launched, at dawn today, an attack on the Kurdish village of Secol, south of Kobani (Ayn al-Arab), then violent clashes broke out between the militants and the Kurdish units.”

“The losses among the ranks of civilians and militants were not identified,” the source added.

Earlier this year, the Islamic State abducted 30 Kurdish civilians, including women and children from Secol, and released some of them later.
