U.S. forces release 8 Kirkuk detainees

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: U.S. forces on Saturday freed eight detainees from Kirkuk residents after they have been cleared of all wrongdoing, a local police chief said. “Six prisoners from Kirkuk were released today,” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Two others were freed after their cases had been referred to the Criminal Investigations Department,” the source noted, adding that all charges against them have been dropped. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
