Ninewa council demands U.S. troops to explain their behavior with TV correspondent

NINEWA / Aswat all-Iraq: The Ninewa council demanded on Friday U.S. troops to present and explanation of their behavior with a TV correspondent in Mosul, stressing the importance of respecting journalists’ work. “On Thursday (Oct. 8), a U.S. force threatened Journalist Mounir Asaad, correspondent of al-Hurra satellite channel, and confiscated his camera’s film after making interviews with citizens and officials at the city hall on the security conditions in Ninewa,” the council said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The council strongly condemns this act and demands the U.S. army to explain this violation and to apologize to the journalist,” the statement added. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P) 1
