40 agreements, memos to be signed with Erdogan – Foreign Ministry

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Around 40 agreements and memorandums of understanding will be signed with the visiting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a senior foreign ministry’s official said on Thursday. “Around 40 agreements and memorandums of understanding in transport, trade, oil fields and other economic activities will be signed in the first ministerial meeting of the joint committees between the two countries which will be held in Baghdad on Thursday (Oct. 15),” Undersecretary of Iraqi Foreign Ministry Labied Abbawi told As wat al-Iraq news agency. Regarding tackling the Iraqi-Syrian file during Erdogan’s visit, Abbawi said that the file has not been discussed as the visit dedicated to the development of Iraqi-Turkish relations. “Maybe the Syrian-Iraqi file could be talked in the side meetings with the prime minister and political leaders,” he noted. “Erdogan’s visit will continue for three days and will witness meetings with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, President Jalal Talabani and his two deputies Adel Abdulmahdi and Tareq al-Hashemi as well as Parliament’s Speaker Iyad al-Samarraie.
