Kurdistan’s parliament holds special session on election law

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Kurdistan’s parliament started a special session on Wednesday morning on approving the election law and the Kirkuk cause, the parliament’s speaker said, expressing refusal to postpone the elections. “This session is being held to listen to the lawmakers’ viewpoints regarding approving the election law at the Iraqi parliament and the recent discussions on the Kirkuk cause,” Kamal Karkouki told IraqiNews.com news agency, noting that the parliament will issue its official position at the end of the session. “We do not support the postponement of the elections and we will not accept not applying the constitution in any Iraqi city because what the parliamentarians call for to give Kirkuk a special status is a violation of the Iraqi constitution,” he said.
