Kurdistan PM, Czech amb. discuss parl. elections

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nejervan Barazani discussed with the new Czech ambassador in Baghdad the forthcoming parliamentary elections and the outstanding issues between Arbil and Baghdad, according to a Kurdistan RegionG statement on Saturday. “Barazani received on Friday in Arbil the new Czech ambassador to Iraq. The two sides discussed the important parliamentary elections to be held in Iraq early next year and the need to hold the vote all over Iraqi province as scheduled so as to render success the country’s political process and maintain stability,” read the statement as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The meeting also dealt with pending issues between Arbil and Baghdad, namely the disputed areas, and the need to reach solutions to them through dialogue, understanding and recourse to the constitution,” it added. The Kurdistan RegionG statement also quoted the Czech diplomat as stressing development of bilateral ties and free trade, expressing her country’s readiness to assist Iraq. Also, she discussed with Barazani the future program that involves a visit by a high-level delegation of Czech companies to the Kurdistan region to participate in the reconstruction of Iraq. AmR (P) 1
