Talabani briefs Larijani on election law talks
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Friday briefed visiting Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani on the ongoing deliberations among the political blocs regarding the elections law, according to a presidential release. “Talabani received on Friday (Nov. 6) at Baghdad’s al-Salam Palace Iranian Majlis Speaker Larijani and his accompanying delegation in a meeting where Talabani reviewed the country’s political and security developments and the Iraqi parliament debates regarding the elections law,” read the release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The two sides also discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and the Iranian Islamic Republic and means to enhance them in all fields of cooperation,” it added. For his part, Larijani stressed the need to boost the historical relations binding Iraq and Iran to the good of the higher interests of the two countries. The Iranian chief parliamentarian praised “efforts exerted by President Talabani in order to bring Iraqi political powers’ views closer”. AmR (P) 1
