Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A tribal fighter was killed, while two others were wounded in a bomb blast in south of Baghdad, a police source said on Monday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News on Monday, the source said, “a bomb placed on the side of the road at Arab Jabbour region in al-Doura region, south of Baghdad, went off targeting a patrol for Tribal Mobilization Forces, which left one personnel killed and two others wounded.”

“Security troops arrived at the blast scene and transferred the wounded to nearby hospital, while the victim’s body was taken to forensic medicine department,” the source, who asked to remain anonymous, said.

Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State Sunni extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

A total of 117 Iraqi civilians were killed and another 264 injured, excluding police, in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in November, according to casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
