Kuwait confirms broad int’l participation in Iraq reconstruction conf.
Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said on Monday that the forthcoming conference on reconstruction of Iraq will witness broad international participation and a significant contribution, KUNA reported.
Jarallah made the remarks in response to reporters after the opening of the Embassy of Ghana in Kuwait.
Jarallah said invitations to the conference had been delivered two days ago to the participating countries, international organizations of the United Nations, international financial institutions, and civil society organizations in various countries of the world.
Kuwait will host an international conference from February 12 to 14 on reconstructing parts of Iraq devastated by the war against Islamic State.
Earlier in the day, the Iraqi government revealed that it intends to offer big investment opportunities at Iraq’s reconstruction conference.
In a statement, Secretary General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Allaq said that the conference gives also priorities to the promotion of major investments in all Iraqi provinces within the framework of reconstruction.
Such investment chances are expected to contribute to preparing atmospheres for the return of displaced people and to supporting projects of national reconciliation in some liberated areas, Allaq added.
Donor countries and organizations are expected to announce financial contributions at the gathering.
