Concrete barriers to be removed from Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Baghdad’s municipality on Thursday said it has launched a campaign to remove concrete barriers in Baghdad’s al-Karada area, according to an official statement. “In cooperation with the municipal council in the area, al-Karada’s department personnel removed the concrete barriers in alleys no. 6 and 10 in district no. 915, and alleys no. 65 and 46 in district no. 913,” read the statement that was received by IraqiNews.com news agency. Baghdad’s municipality vowed to remove all barriers within 40 days after Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had given instructions in this regard, but an upsurge in the wave of violence in the capital has hindered the process.
