Suicide attacker killed by security in Iraq’s Samarra
Samarra (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces killed a suicide bomber in Salahuddin province, a security official was quoted saying on Wednesday.
Rig. Gen. Yahia Rasoul, spokesperson of the Security Media Center, said security forces in Samarra, during a search in Bishkan, Tal al-Thahab near the Tigris River, killed a suicide bomber, destroyed two rest houses belonging to Islamic State militants and detonated an explosive device.
Iraq declared in December the recapture of all territories occupied by Islamic State militants since 2014, but occasional clashes occur between troops and remnant militants. The extremist group has claimed responsibility for a number of bloody attacks against civilians and security forces since then.
