Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) An Iraqi security personnel was killed, while another was wounded in a bomb blast, north of Baghdad, a source from the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.

“A bomb, placed on the side of the road, went off in Sabaa al-Bor region, north of Baghdad, while a vehicle for security troops was passing, which left a personnel killed and another injured,” the source told Baghdad Today.

Troops, according to the source, who asked to remain anonymous, “rushed to the accident spot, transferred the injured to hospital, while the victim was taken to forensic medicine.”

A total of 76 people were killed and 129 others were injured due to acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflicts during the month of June, casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

Diyala was the worst affected Governorate, according to the report, with 52 civilian casualties (16 killed, 36 injured), then came Kirkuk (10 killed, 36 injured) then Baghdad (19 killed and 18 injured).

Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.
