Iraqi farmer killed in bomb attack in Baqubah

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – A farmer was killed on Tuesday in a bomb attack at an agricultural land in Baqubah, Diyala, a security source was quoted as saying.
“An explosive charge went off near a garden in Abu Karma village, in northeastern Baqubah, leaving a farmer dead,” Iraqi website Alghad Press quoted the source as saying.
The source added that the body was moved to the forensic medicine department.
An Iraqi security source said on Monday that a bomb placed outside a mayor’s house in a district in central Kirkuk went off yesterday afternoon, leaving two people wounded.
A total of 90 Iraqi civilians were killed, while 117 others were injured due to acts of violence and terrorism during the month of August, according to the monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
“Of the overall figures recorded by UNAMI for the month of August, the number of civilians killed (not including police) was 82, while the number of injured (not including police) was 113,” the statement read.
The worst affected province, according to the statement, was Baghdad with 77 civilian casualties (24 killed and 53 injured) followed by Nineveh with 39 casualties (29 killed and 10 injured). Anbar came in the third place with 32 casualties (6 killed and 26 injured).
