Anbar police seize 2 explosive belts east of Ramadi

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Policemen seized two explosive belts ready for detonating during a security operation east of al-Ramadi city on Thursday, a local police source in al-Anbar province said. “Ramadi policemen, acting upon intelligence tip-offs on the presence of weapons east of the city, launched a wide-scale security operation and found two explosive belts inside an unfinished house,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The bomb squad personnel defused the belts without incident,” he added. Earlier on Thursday, an Anbar police source said a car bomb went off in central Ramadi, leaving seven people killed and 20 others wounded. A Criminal Investigations Department source told IraqiNews.com the blast that took place near a gate designed for the exit of the Anbar city hall was caused by a suicide bombing with an explosive belt. Ramadi, the capital city of the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. AmR (P) 2
