Dhi Qar (IraqiNews.com) The Criminal Court in Dhi Qar has sentenced a terrorist to death and two others to life in prison over carrying out several crimes in Anbar province.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Abdul Sattar al-Bayraqdar, spokesperson for the High Judiciary Council, said “Dhi Qar Criminal Court reviewed lawsuits of three convicts, one of whom took part in booby-trapping a vehicle in Ramadi city, which left nine people killed. The militant was sentenced to death.”

The life sentences, according to the statement, “were given to two terrorists over joining a militant group and taking part in entering a booby-trapped vehicle into Ramadi.”

Many Islamic State members were detained during liberation battles that freed cities, which were recaptured by the militant group in 2014.

Two Islamic State members were sentenced, in September, to death over killing 12 people in Anbar.

In December, the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced gaining control on all the territories that were captured by Islamic State, since 2014. However, Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.
