Amman (IraqiNews.com) – Jordanian King Abdullah II on Thursday held talks with visiting Iraqi President Braham Saleh on means of expanding economic cooperation between Amman and Baghdad in various fields including trade, investment, energy and transport.

In a one-on-one meeting followed by expanded talks at Basman Palace, the two leaders stressed the need to implement a number of joint economic projects, topped by Basra-Aqaba pipeline, rehabilitation of Baghdad to Amman Highway and establishing a joint free industrial estate on the Jordanian-Iraqi border, according ti Petra News Agency.

Intra-trade and exchanging visits between officials and the private sector of both countries were figured high during the talks between the Jordanian king and Saleh.

The talks also covered the fight against terrorism, the Syrian crisis and enhancing the principles of tolerance among religions.

The talks were attended by senior officials from both sides.

The king held a lunch banquet in honor of the Iraqi president and the accompanying delegation.

Following the meeting, the Iraqi president held talks with Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, during which he voiced his country’s appreciations of Jordan’s stances towards Iraq, adding that the Hashemite family has a great stature in his country, which will positively mirror on a true partnership between Amman and Baghdad.
