3 pilgrims wounded in Baghdad blast
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Three Shiite pilgrims have been injured in an explosive charge blast in southeastern Baghdad, a local police source said on Sunday. “A roadside explosive device detonated in al-Mashtal neighborhood, southeastern Baghdad, while Shiite pilgrims were heading to Karbala on foot,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Three persons were wounded in the blast and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the source noted. The Arbaeen is a religious occasion marking the 40 th day after the death of Imam al-Hussein, the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson and the third holiest figure for Shiite Muslims, in the battle of Taf in Karbala in the Hegira year 61 (680 in the Gregorian calendar).
