Iraq seeks partnership with other countries to improve its economy, says president
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi President Barham Saleh said on Tuesday that Iraq is willing to go into partnership with the other countries to give a push to its ailing economy.
The president made the remarks during a meeting with French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian in Paris, the National Iraqi News Agency quoted the presidency as saying in a statement.
During the meeting, Saleh called for developing relations between the two countries in a manner that serves the interests of the Iraqi and French peoples.
The president further praised the “positive role” played by the European Union in support of the Iraqi government, pointing out that Iraq is looking forward to more cooperation between Baghdad and Paris in the economic, social and trade fields.
Le Drian, for his part, stressed his country’s keenness to continue support for Iraq in all fields. He further praised a victory achieved by the Iraqi troops against Islamic State gangs.
