Justice ministry releases 85 prisoners

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi justice ministry’s reformatory department on Thursday released 85 prisoners from jails in Baghdad, according to a ministry’s official. “Some 85 prisoners were released on Thursday (Feb. 11) from Baghdad’s al-Rusafa and al-Baladiyat jails,” the official told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that the prisoners were released after they were acquitted before Iraqi courts over lack of sufficient evidence to condemn them. The Iraqi reformatory department has twenty-nine jails all over Iraqi provinces, including three for women in the provinces of Baghdad, Thi-Qar and al-Muthanna. SH (P) 1
