Seven Syrian Kurdish fighters killed in suicide attack in north
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Seven Kurdish Syrian fighters were killed early Tuesday in a suicide attack northwest of the country, days after Syrian Kurdish troops celebrated an all-out defeat of Islamic State militants.
The Manbij Military Council, a Kurdish entity in the town located in northern Syria’s Aleppo province, said in a tweet “a terrorist attack was carried out at midnight at a security checkpoint at Manbij entrance, seven fighters were martyred while doing their sentry duty”.
The attack comes days after the Syrian Democratic Forces, a Kurdish force backed by the U.S.-led coalition fighting against Islamic State extremists, declared the recapture of the group’s last enclave: the Baghouz village, in the northeast.
