Iraqi president meets UN envoy on latest developments in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi President Barham Salih discussed with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert the latest developments in the Arab country.

During the meeting, Salih “stressed the important role played by the UN organization and its efforts to support Iraq in the field of protecting human rights and promoting peaceful coexistence among Iraqis,” Alghad Press quoted the presidential office as saying in a press statement.

“Iraq receives great support from leaders of Arab and regional countries to eliminate terrorist gangs,” the president said.

For her part, he UN envoy stressed that she will continue to support the Iraqi government to implement development projects across the country.
