Kuwait, Iraq agreed to solve outstanding issues — Kuwaiti diplomat
Kuwait (IraqiNews.com) – Kuwait and Iraq agreed to solve outstanding issues within the framework of excellent relations, Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said.
Speaking to KUNA after the opening of the 7th session of Kuwait-Iraq Committee on Saturday, Al-Jarallah said Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Al-Hakim would co-chair another round of talks.
He expressed confidence the talks would promote relations between Kuwait and Iraq to a new level of strategic partnership.
Al-Jarallah said the two sides would sign five documents in addition to the minute of the meeting.
He said the meeting was held in “positive atmosphere,” and commended the outcome of the joint teams.
“The meeting is being held amidst critical circumstances in the region, so it is highly crucial and important we boost cooperation with the brothers,” he said.
Al-Hakim started on Saturday a two-day visit to Kuwait.
He is scheduled to hold a meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and other senior officials.
They will discuss several issues of mutual concern and ways of promoting relations between the two countries.
