Iraqi security forces foil IS planned plot during Eid al-Fitr
Anbar (IraqiNews) Security Expert Hisham al-Hashemy declared, on Saturday, that the security forces foiled a plot by the Islamic State group to launch an attack during Eid al-Fitr.
News outlet quoted Hashimy saying that the Islamic State group was actually preparing for a bigger attack than the latest Kirkuk bombings. The plot was to launch attacks during Eid al-Fitr, but the security forces were able to thwart it, he added.
He further explained that the international coalition aviation, backed by Iraqi security forces, conducted operations against the IS group in Nineveh. The operations resulted in the arrest of a number of militants, who were responsible for the burning of wheat and barley fields In Nineveh.
It is noteworthy that security forces frequently manage to thwart plots by the Islamic State group to launch attacks in different areas of the country.
