29 sports projects worth ID2.4bn implemented in Karbala

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Twenty-nine sports projects have been carried out in Karbala at a total cost of 2.4 billion Iraqi dinars (more than $2 million U.S. dollars), a local official said on Wednesday. “Local companies and contractors have conducted 29 projects for the Sports and Youth Department as part of the 2009 provincial development program,” the chairman of the construction and strategic planning committee in the Karbala provincial council, Dr. Abbass Nasser Hassani, told IraqiNews.com news agency. Fifteen out of those projects have been implemented in central Karbala, seven in al-Hindiya (20 km east of Karbala), three in al-Horr district (5 km west of Karbala City and two in al-Husseiniya district (20 km north of Karbala), Hassani pointed out.
