Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Ministry of Health warned on Monday about the spread of the Omicron variant and that a fourth wave can happen anytime throughout Iraq.

Abdel Azim Maytham Abbas, associate of the media team at the Ministry of Health, said: “Do not underestimate preventive measures, and to wear a mask during the celebration of the New Year holidays in restaurants, clubs, parks, closed areas, and wedding events. The Omicron variant is spreading quicker than the Delta strain.”

“The Ministry of Health is awaiting a decision from the World Health Organization (WHO) to reduce the period between the second and third doses to three months instead of six months, to enhance the level of immunity, especially for the most dangerous group,” said Abbas.
