Demands to execute big irrigation project in Amara

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: A member of the Missan Provincial Council demanded that the Iraqi government execute the Amara Big Irrigation Project, suspended since the 1970s. “The project was postponed due to the Iraqi–Iranian War (1980–1988),” Hassan Lazim told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that the project would help sustain a wide range of agricultural lands in the province. Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad. MH (P)/SR 3
