Grand Batahaa Bridge opened in Thi-Qar

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of housing has opened the Grand al-Batahaa Bridge, which links the two sides of the district, a local official said on Saturday. “The bridge was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by the minister of housing and reconstruction, Bayan Dizayee; Thi-Qar Governor Taleb al-Hassan; the head of Thi-Qar‘s provincial council, Qussey al-Abbadi; and several council members,” a technical assistant in Thi-Qar‘s provincial council, Abdulhussein Hadi Hajar, told IraqiNews.com news agency. The bridge was constructed at a total cost of 4 billion Iraqi dinars ($3.375 million U.S. dollars) and financed through the ministry’s budget, the official pointed out. Al-Bathaa district is 45 km northwest of Nassiriya, the capital city of Thi-Qar province, which lies 380 km south of Baghdad. SS (P) 2
