2 arrested, 8 mortars seized in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Two suspects were arrested and eight mortar shells were seized during military raids in Kirkuk City, a local security source said on Saturday. “During a late hour on Friday (Jan. 22) evening, a joint force from al-Mahooz police and the Multi-National Force (MNF) conducted a search raid in al-Jamliya village, Huweija district (65 km southwest of Kirkuk),” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Two suspects were captured and eight mortar shells were found in agricultural land near al-Jamliya village,” the source pointed out. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
