National Front seeks unity – Hakeem

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The National Front seeks political unity to build an Iraqi project, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakeem, the head of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) said on Saturday. “The SIIC believes in real partnership and national consensus,” a release issued by the SIIC quoted al-Hakeem. He said that the Iraqi project requires cooperation to achieve what Iraqis are looking for. On Thursday (Jan. 14), al-Hakeem said that the two main Kurdish parties (KDP and PUK) agreed to a proposal to form a national front. He said that any political bloc will not be able to rule Iraq alone, according to the 50%+1 system, after the coming elections as Iraq needs an expanded national bloc which will include all political entities.
