MP says budget, electoral behavior law to be approved next week

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: MP from the parliament’s financial committee, Sami al-Atroushi, said on Friday that the parliament will likely approve the 2010 budget and the electoral behavior law by the mid of next week. “Some political blocs do not want to approve the budget in order to legislate some other laws,” al-Atroushi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “No one rejects the budget but parliamentarians was to approve several laws before the approval of the budget, which marks the end of the current legislative term,” the lawmaker added. “The electoral behavior draft law is one of the main obstacles which hinder the approval of the budget as some lawmakers want to approve the law before the budget,” he continued.
