Deputy PM, UN envoy stress national unity

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s Deputy Prime Minister Rafie al-Issawi has met with the special representative of the United Nations secretary general for Iraq, Ad Melkert, to discuss the upcoming legislative election and means of consolidating national unity. The officials have stressed the necessity of strengthening national unity in order to overcome al obstacles facing the voting process, according to a statement released by Issawi’s office and received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The meeting has also tackled the UN‘s role in rendering the polls a success. Parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place in Iraq on March 7, 2010. SS (P) 2
