PM’s office responsible for abusing Iraqi blood, funds – official

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Office of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is responsible for abusing Iraqi blood and public funds by importing invalid explosives detectors, said media spokesperson for Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi. “Al-Maliki’s office is carrying out a campaign to create a political crisis to exclude Iraqi political powers from election racing,” Abdilillah Kadhum told IraqiNews.com news agency on Monday. He said that the campaign will not relieve al-Maliki’s office from the responsibility for importing invalid explosives detectors. “The process of importing those devices abused Iraqi blood and funds for personal interests,” Kadhom said. For his part, Lawmaker Hassan al-Sinaed, a high-ranking member of al-Maliki’s Dawa Party and an old comrade of the Iraqi Prime Minister, said that the PM’s office does not contract but ministries do. “Two committees have been formed to investigate the detectors contracts,” al-Sinaed told IraqiNews.com news agency. He attributed the issue of purchasing invalid explosive detectors to the two Iraqi Ministries of Interior and Defense, but said that the two committees’ investigation results will be announced this week.
