President meets AL representative

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani received in the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniya on Friday the representative of the Arab League (AL) in Iraq Naji Ahmed Shalgham. “The two sides discussed recent political developments in Iraq and the country’s preparations for parliamentary election, scheduled to be held on March 7, 2010,” said a presidential press release received by IraqiNews.com news agency. It said that both sides stressed the importance of the pan-Arab organization’s role in war-troubled Iraq. “The league can play a key role in unifying the Iraqi people’s ranks,” the statement said.
