Speaker arrives in Mosul to inspect preparations for elections

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Parliament Speaker Iyad al-Samarraie arrived in the city of Mosul on Saturday morning on an official visit to inspect preparations for the forthcoming legislative elections, according to a speaker’s media advisor. “Speaker Samarraie will meet with officials in Ninewa and the province’s operations command and is also scheduled to attend a rally later in the day (Feb. 20),” Omar al-Mashhadani told IraqiNews.com news agency. Iraq’s general elections are scheduled to be held on March 7. Mosul, the capital city of the violence-stricken province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
