Expert rules out tsunami in Basra
BASRA / IraqiNews.com: MP from the parliament’s health and environment committee, Mustapha al-Hieti, ruled out the possibility of a tsunami in Basra in southern Iraq. “There is no way that tsunami could happen in Basra, because from the scientific point of view strong earthquakes like tsunami need large areas of waters like seas and oceans and tsunami can not happen in a small gulf like the Arab gulf,” al-Hieti told IraqiNews.com news agency. A number of international organizations have prepared reports on possible tsunami in Basra, 590 km south of Baghdad. SH (P) ? 1
