Ninewa local council seeks contract with security firm

NINEWA /Iraqi News The Ninewa provincial council will announce a tender to contract a private security firm to protect Mosul airport on condition that it would provide training for Iraqi forces later, a council member said on Thursday. “The council has voted unanimously over a tender for several security firms to protect the Mosul airport and provide training for Iraqi forces,” Yahya Abad Mahjoub told Iraqi News. Britain’s Cyber firm, which is currently in charge of protecting the civilian airport in Mosul, comprises officials from Scotland, Britain and Australia but the actual staff is Iraqi. The British firm’s contract had been renewed in January for three months and is due to expire on March 30. Mosul, the capital city of the violence-stricken province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P) 2
