Iraqi forces kill al-Qaeda leader in Mosul

NINEWA /Iraqi News Iraqi special forces (SWAT) killed a senior leader of al-Qaeda group in western Mosul on Thursday, commander of the SWAT said. “SWAT killed on Thursday (March 25) a leader of al-Qaeda group in 17 Tamouz region, western Mosul,” Captain Habib Elyas told Iraqi News. “Clashes erupted with gunmen after receiving a tip-off on the presence of what is called the Finance Minister of the Islamic State of Iraq, Khedr Abd Ghanem Khedr Dawan,” he explained. “The operation ended without casualties among the forces,” he added, noting that the dead man is wanted for armed operations he made in separate areas of Ninewa. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR 2
